Ontic’s Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. Our team is looking for a Director, Quality Control to join them. You will report to the Site Leader and will have an onsite work structure in Chatsworth, CA.
To be considered for the Director, Quality Control opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
Bachelors degree in relevant field preferred, equivalent experience considered
American Society of Quality Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer preferred
10+ years of aerospace quality experience
5+ years of leadership experience
Full knowledge of the regulatory environment Ontic operates in, including the FAA Parts 21, 65 and 145 as well as customer and other government requirements
General Supplier Quality Engineering Skills such as Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis through 5 Whys, 8D, Cause and effect diagrams, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing Principles
As a Director, Quality Control, you will:
Be responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and leading all quality activities for new and overhauled products, including inspection services to ensure products meet regulatory, government and company compliance requirements
Serve as the primary relationship manager with external entities including customers, DCMA, FAA and the NTSB
Supervise key activities in retention, storage, maintenance, distribution and revisions of all quality documents
Support and deployment of appropriate Quality Management Systems with Ontic or BBA companies as directed by the Site Director
Provide strategic development in the areas Quality Management, Business Systems, and Continuous Improvement
Provide quality resources to improve and maintain the highest levels of product quality in new business development, production, aftermarket, and repairs
Support the Business Unit Leaders to accomplish key customer metrics: DPPM, OTD, Sales
Ensure that policies and procedures needed for the quality management system are established, implemented, and maintained – and revised as needed
Enforce regulatory and government compliance requirements
Lead source and receiving inspection activities, Returned Material Authorization investigations, Material Review Board quality analysis, and inspections to Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul activities
Ensure achievement of company budgetary requirements
Direct the processes of interaction with 3rd Party Auditors, including ISO, or equivalent authorities of other nations, and regulatory compliance agencies.
Personally engage in leading audits and investigations when required
Act to build consensus and establish common ground in regard to regulatory challenges, and serve as chief spokesperson in establishing resolution of issues with agencies and authorities
Direct manufacturing compliance activities to insure that GMP requirements, and all manufacturing practices and record keeping, are in full compliance with the applicable regulatory agency requirements
Act continuously to reduce quality costs, focusing on the relentless pursuit of manufacturing process controls and Warranty claims reduction through the use of quality tools such as RCCA, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, etc.
Lead, motivate, and teach associates in the development of a customer-focused quality culture that is based on industry-leading product quality, closed-loop customer quality feedback, and internally-focused root cause analysis and preventative actions
Ensure Supplier Quality Engineers actively engage with suppliers ensuring a cooperative relationship is maintained
Champion the partnership between Supply Chain and Supplier Quality to continuously improve supplier performance
Ensure contract reviews are performed in a timely and accurate manner
Attend Aerospace Industries Associations (AIA) Meetings staying abreast of any coming challenges or changes that may affect the business

Salary Range:
$150,000 - $200,000, based on experience
