Position Summary:
The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Business Development to join our Standards team. This role is pivotal in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for new standards, products, and services that align with our mission and industry needs. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of market research, sales experience, and new product development skills, coupled with strong strategic thinking, communication, and negotiation abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research and Business Development (100%)
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps in the aerospace industry.
- Develop and propose new standards, products, and services that meet industry needs and drive growth.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and validate new business opportunities.
- Lead and manage projects and committees focused on the development and implementation of new standards and products.
- Negotiate with partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders to secure favorable terms and partnerships.
- Prepare and present business cases, proposals, and reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance of new initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and budgets.
- Adapt to changing market conditions and organizational priorities, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in market research and sales, preferably within the aerospace or related industries.
- Strong background in new product development and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Demonstrated project and committee management experience.
- Solid financial acumen and the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- High level of adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Desired Skills:
- SES-ASP certification desirable (SES - The Society for Standardization Professionals)
