The position is responsible for leading a team executing a range of statement of work, including technology development and transition, engineering tools and processes development, Business Unit Program offloads, and government Contract Research and Development (CRAD). The multidisciplinary team is primarily composed of Propulsion, Mechanical Systems, and Electrical engineers covering a range of technology domains, including Propulsion Integration, Thermal Systems, Electrical Power Systems, and novel integrated systems to name a few for a broad range of applicable air vehicle platforms covering both commercial and military, and all speed regimes.
The team is based in St. Louis, with a number of fully virtually employees. Additional responsibilities include leadership in developing technology roadmaps, strategies for new business pursuits and capture strategies, and proposal development. The Facility for Integrated Research of Subsystem Technology (FIRST) Lab will also be under the position’s responsibility. The leader will be required to form partnerships across the Enterprise, especially CTO, BCA, Aurora Flight Sciences, and an emphasis on BDS and Phantom Works. The ability to develop close relationships with Phantom Works Programs and Leadership is an absolute must. Position Responsibilities:
Manages employees and first-level managers performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines
Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience working with propulsion or energy systems (storage, thermal management, motors)
5+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams across multiple organizations.
Experience working in a Business Unit, and/or on a major development or production program
Experience working with external suppliers and/or partner companies
Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
7+ years of experience working with propulsion or energy systems (storage, thermal management, motors), or related field
7+ years leading or managing technical teams within multiple organizations
Experience developing relationships with government customers on shaping new opportunities, proposals, and contracts, especially within DoD
Experience conducting ground testing, and/or managing lab facilities preferably related to propulsion and/or energy/power systems
Strong communication skills both written and spoken, with Executive-Level technical, Program, and/or strategy briefings
Active security clearance
Ability to manage and lead people through influence and Seek, Speak, Listen practices

Summary pay range: $155,550 - $210,450
