What You’ll Do
First Officers report to the Chief Pilot administratively and to his or her assigned Captain functionally during FAR 121 duty periods. 
- He/She must be knowledgeable of the USA Jet General Operations Manual, FARs, OpSpecs, Aircraft Flight Manual, and other instructions pertinent to his/her duties 
- Determines that he/she meets the flight and duty time limitation, is adequately rested, and in proper uniform 
- He/She shall keep the PIC appraised per the Company SOP in all phases of flight. At the discretion of the PIC, the Second-in-Command may be requested to perform additional duties as follows:
- Filing, opening, or closing flight plans 
- Conducting preflight and post-flight inspections 
- Checking to ensure required documents, navigational aids, manuals, and equipment are on board 
- Participate or facilitate in the loading/off-loading of cargo and/or passengers, as applicable 
- Supervises or completes the securing of cargo, cargo nets, and flight crew barrier 
- Determining that carry-on items are properly stowed 
- Brief couriers or jumpseaters 
- Perform ATC Communications
- The FO is considered in training for upgrading to Captain and is expected to take advantage of all Captain instructions and information available 
- Assists other Crewmembers as necessary 
- Execute applicable ground security requirements as mandated by the TSA. Duties shall include but not be limited to:
- Ground Security Coordinator (GSC) 
- Aircraft security requirements 
- Cargo security requirements 
- Security requirements for other authorized persons
- Ensure that all air cargo is accepted, inspected, loaded, and secured aboard the aircraft in accordance with all applicable domestic/ international regulatory and Company requirements 
- Responsible to actively participate in USA Jet Safety Programs and Safety Management System. Required to report all safety concerns in a timely manner. Required to ensure that they and their co-workers are performing their functions in the safest possible manner. Required to follow the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health organization with legal authority at the location at which they are working
What You’ll Bring
- Must hold the appropriate licenses and certificates as defined in this manual 
- Must complete the training, checking, and qualification requirements defined in USA Jet approved/accepted manuals 
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently 
- Must maintain a valid U.S. / state driver’s license 
- Must be physically able to operate company vehicles and equipment on airport and over-the-road 
- Must maintain a valid passport (U.S. or other nation).
- Must be able to travel for work and training as required
- Successful candidates must pass an initial, and random, Drug and Alcohol screening process as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a fingerprint based criminal history records check and/or Security Threat Assessment (STA) as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
