Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000

Our offices are based in the heart of the Loop in downtown Chicago, but we are pleased to note that our Chicago office is operating on a hybrid work model (mix of in-office and remote work).
Position Summary:
The HR Compliance Specialist will be responsible for supporting the People Operations and field management teams within multiple areas of compliance including internal policy, department of transportation, as well as federal, state and local laws as they relate to the HR function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage employee credentialing, including CDL and non-CDL license requirements driver medical certifications, reporting, and third-party vendor management
- Formulate and implement improvements to TPS’ driver compliance program, including pre-employment qualifications, continuous license monitoring, and internal or external audits
- Assist with employee audits (I9, E-Verify, DOT, DOL, and others)
- Effectively research DOT-related materials and provide high-level support by addressing day-to-day compliance inquiries and maintaining updated compliance templates and process documents
- Maintain driver qualification files and vehicle files as well as perform periodic audits to ensure compliance
- Responsible for partnering with the HRBP team to review MVR reports to ensure safe hiring and retention practices
- Lead the TPS drug and alcohol testing programs for all locations across the portfolio
- Advise operation leaders for pre-employment, randoms, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing under multiple regulatory authorities (ex: Federal DOT, California and other state DOT, and non-DOT safety-sensitive)
- Maintain standard operating procedures and polices while ensuring compliance to all state and federal requirements
- Oversee the administration of the Clearinghouse entries and reporting requirements with TPS compliance vendors, including manual processes or integrated systems
- Formulate, interpret and coordinate compliance initiatives including but not limited to pre- and post-employment screening, minimum wage audits, labor law postings, DOT and OSHA compliance across 50+ locations
- Document and report any compliance breaches or issues to senior leadership; Prepare and maintain reports on records compliance status and issues
- Partner with the VP of People Operations to coordinate employee record audits and compliance programs, performing internal and external audits and working to resolve findings promptly
- Support the Company M&A activities and the planning and execution of the Annual Leadership Summit, Market of the Year, Grand Openings, Annual Culture Week, Roadshow and other milestone celebrations and events
- Update and interpret handbooks, policies, SOPs, and procedures
- Maintain a high level of ethics, transparency, and accuracy when reporting compliance risks and potential exposure
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in either HR, Compliance, or Safety positions
- DOT or Transportation industry experience preferred
- Experience using dashboards, Excel, and an HRIS, preferably UKG
- Self-starter, highly skilled in areas of attention to detail, follow-up, multi-tasking, and organization
- Comfortable collaborating with and serving as liaison to employees at all levels within the organization
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
