We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Management & Lean Specialist (Level 5) to join Boeing’s Enterprise Services (ES) organization, part of the ES Operational Excellence team. As a Lean Leader you will be driving our mission on continuous improvement and help to build a movement around Lean across the whole organization.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location options (likely to be 20-25% of the time). This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach with internal and external partners and leverage his/her knowledge of project management best practices. Working collaboratively with teams across the organization to drive specific improvement opportunities, deploying concept and tools and techniques such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), process mapping, Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM) and AIW.

ES is a team of 2,500+ employees, which includes Global Real Estate & Facilities, Indirect Supply Chain and Executive Flight Operations, whose collective mission is to enable the build of Boeing’s products. ES provides strategic partnership and support to all Boeing business units through multiple service towers – creating outsized impact and value across the Enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Execute full lifecycle, agile project management on multiple complex, high priority initiatives from concept scope/definition through to completion

  • Perform as a Lean leader within Operational Excellence team and the wider ES function:

  • Guides the effective application and integration of Lean implementation

  • Leads and facilitates complex and high visibility process improvement efforts

  • Lean and coach value stream mapping and process analysis to identify areas for improvement

  • Develop and implement Lean training programs for employees at all levels

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement efforts

  • Utilize data analysis and metrics to measure the effectiveness of Lean initiatives

  • Mentor and coach team members in Lean principles and practices

  • Lead Lean activities to include Value Stream Mapping (VSM), process mapping, Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM), and AIW

  • Facilitate Lean continuous improvement workshops to enhance organizational efficiency and productivity through deeper application of Lean principles and methodologies

  • Connect Lean principles and strategy to execution and results

  • Develop and deploy systematic approach to capture and replicate innovations and improvement best practices

  • Instruct others in continuous improvement tools and principles

  • Tailors message to specific audience level

  • Develop project and program plans at all levels across functional areas to achieve objectives within scope, time, quality, and constraints from initiation to post completion

  • Engage stakeholders proactively to understand and confirm necessary requirements that will inform project / program deliverables

  • Manage to project and program plans inclusive of schedules, reports, monitoring metrics, change activity, communicating and updating plans regularly throughout lifecycle

  • Develop relationships with key functional stakeholders and program sponsors

  • Deliver insightful, high-quality outcomes while managing governance with key stakeholders

  • Manage change management process and apply industry best standards

  • Create high quality presentations that tell business stories, provide progress updates, and create/lead detailed business cases for new projects

  • Define and proactively manage risks, escalating where appropriate

  • Collect and interpret data, evaluate, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions, and communicate effectively to relevant stakeholders through speech and presentations

  • Analyze technical or business problems and reach sound, independent conclusions

  • Own, lead and support a portfolio of projects/initiatives concurrently and meet critical deadlines

Key Relationships & Stakeholders

  • ES Executive Leadership team

  • Multiple functional partners: IT, Data and Business Intelligence, Finance, HR

  • Enterprise Services Tower leadership: Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF), Indirect Supply Chain (ISC), Executive Flight Operations (EFO)

  • External vendors and/or consultants

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience implementing lean principles, to include identifying opportunities and making recommendations for value stream improvements that resulted in improved business position through culture transformation.

  • 5+ years of experience planning and facilitating Lean workshops (e.g., VSM / BPSM /AIW / 3P / Kaizen)

  • 5+ years of experience in a Project or Program Manager position

  • 5+ years of experience communicating and leading projects inclusive of employees, customers, peers, and up to executive leadership

  • 5+ years leading projects inclusive managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, risk, costs

  • 5+ years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • 5+ years using industry standard project management tools (ex: Microsoft Project)

  • 5+ experience effectively mentoring and coaching others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a consulting service practice/project management role in a large, complex industrial company

  • Program Management Professional (PMP), Lean/Six Sigma certifications

  • Knowledge of SAP Ariba

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related discipline (business administration, engineering, project management

  • Project management certification

  • Knowledge and application of the Boeing Production System (BPS)

  • Previous experience with business case development, stakeholder alignment, benefits capture, institutionalization, and continuous improvements.
