Description

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of design and construction projects, ensuring that all activities align with technical, financial, and organizational standards. This role plays a key part in managing consultant relationships, monitoring design quality, and ensuring project schedules and budgets are maintained.


Key responsibilities include reviewing scopes of work for elevator and escalator final designs prepared by consultants, verifying that all specifications and deliverables meet Authority requirements and safety standards. The Assistant Project Manager prepares detailed independent cost estimates for final design efforts, analyzes project budgets, and participates in contract negotiations with consultants to ensure cost-effectiveness and performance accountability.


This position also assists in coordinating cross-functional reviews, tracking project milestones, and facilitating communication among internal departments, consultants, and external stakeholders. The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in managing design and construction documentation, ensuring timely project delivery and adherence to contract terms.


Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills are essential. The Assistant Project Manager contributes to maintaining high standards of design integrity, cost control, and compliance throughout all phases of infrastructure improvement projects. 

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field.

Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, design, planning, and architecture or construction project management, preferably in the transit or rail industry.
